“Access Control has been a great partner for us. They’ve been the bridge to Smiths Detection; we’ve had Smiths for the x-rays (the rolling x-rays) for years now, but the body scanner and the relationship that we’ve created through Access has given me direct control. Any time I have a problem, I have an issue, I have the cell phone number of the president; I call him up. Anytime we have a sales question, I can speak to Heather. The relationship has been great, we’re on a first name basis, they’ve been a great partner for the Essex Sheriff’s Department.”

“I’m David Tuttle, I’m the Superintendent of the Worcester County Sheriff’s Office. Before we purchased the body scanner, we would have to rely on tips from other inmates or informants on the streets for who was smuggling contraband into the facility. And a lot of times, we’d get bad information and we would spend a lot of time with an inmate sitting in dry cell for two days, with an officer watching them 24/7. It cost us a lot of money – that was overtime that we were paying. With the body scanner, we’re able now to see what folks have inside of them and we can eliminate the people who are not smuggling in contraband from those who are. But the thing we’ve found that helped us the most is the deterrent [effect] of this machine. Since word got out on the street that we have it, the amount of contraband even trying to be smuggled in has dropped dramatically too. We’re not seeing as much as we used to when we first put it on.”
